Dell RAM

Dell is arguably the most popular computer manufacturer in America today. Their customer service is legendary, and the computers are known for long term reliability. They are also constantly upgraded with new software and bios periodically which help keep your computer working up to current standards.

Dell computers are also known for being highly upgradeable. Laptops are often stuck in limbo where upgrades are concerned, but Dell's are actually capable of a number of impressive enhancements. System memory is a common upgrade for both desktops and notebooks, and Dell offers an extensive set of memory cards to choose from.

Dell computers are usually shipped with plenty of RAM for the casual user, but some programmers and designers are going to need more power under the hood. Increasing your RAM can help speed your computer dramatically. Graphics intensive programs require a lot of memory to run smoothly, and sometimes your video card doesn't have enough available to do the task. System memory takes over where graphics card memory fails.

Laptop RAM is limited by the space inside the chassis, although chips have become small enough to limit this problem. Some laptops are capable of 1 GB of RAM, so if your notebook shipped with 512 MB of RAM installed you can still get an upgrade. Desktops are only limited by the number of card slots on the motherboard. Check with Dell to find out how many memory card slots your motherboard has, and then you can choose to upgrade or replace your existing card.
