RAM Upgrades

If your computer is beginning to show signs of age, you don't necessarily need to replace your computer. If it has been slowing down and processes are starting to take longer than they used to, this is most likely because of the amount of RAM being taxed through loaded operations. Invest in RAM upgrades to help alleviate this problem. You can save thousands of dollars by trying this step first.

RAM is memory used to store operations you are using while working with your computer. Your operating system is loaded into the RAM at startup, and every program you use during your session is sent into your RAM until you close it. Simply put, RAM is what makes your computer work.

Older computers have a limited amount of RAM available, and if they are using newer more powerful software then there can be some real strain placed on your memory card. Older computers could get by with only 128 MB of RAM, but today's operating systems and programs often require 256 MB or more to run efficiently.

Replacing RAM is very simple, although you need to buy cards that you know will work with your system. Check your system specs and speak to your manufacturer for a list of approved cards. If your system is older then you will want to get the best ram upgrade possible as this will help decrease load and processing times dramatically. You can find 512 MB cards for under $150.
